Electricity plays a significant role in daily life and is the main component of countless applications. Thus, ongoing research is necessary to improve the existing approaches, or find new approaches, to enhancing power generation. The thermoelectric generator (TEG) is among the notable and widespread technologies used to produce electricity, and converts waste energy into electrical energy using the Seebeck effect. Due to the Seebeck effect, temperature change can be turned into electrical energy; hence, a TEG can be applied whenever there is a temperature difference. The present paper presents the theoretical background of the TEG, in addition to a comprehensive review of the TEG and its implementation in various fields. Numerical Study of Thermo-Electric Conversion for TEG Mounted Wavy Walled Triangular Vented Cavity Considering Nanofluid with Different-Shaped Nanoparticles

The effects of the combined utilization of wavy wall and different nanoparticle shapes in heat transfer fluid for a thermoelectric generator (TEG) mounted vented cavity are numerically analyzed. A triangular wave form of the cavity is used, while spherical and cylindrical-shaped alumina nanoparticles are used in water up to a loading amount of 0.03 as solid volume fraction. The impacts of wave amplitude on flow and output power features are significant compared to those of the wave number. The increment in the generated power is in the range of 74.48–92.4% when the wave amplitude is varied. The nanoparticle shape and loading amount are effective in the rise of the TEG power, while by using cylindrical-shaped nanoparticles, higher powers are produced as compared to spherical ones. The rise in the TEG power by the highest loading amount is achieved as 50.7% with cylindrical-shaped particles, while it is only 4% with spherical-shaped ones. A hybrid TEG/evacuated tube solar collectors for electric power generation and space heating

The present work aimed to examine the performance of a thermoelectric generator (TEG) augmented with a hydronic evacuated tube solar collector heat exchanger used to heat a cold zone. TEGs were operated on the temperature difference between hot water circulated through the heat exchanger and the cold temperature of the surrounding space. The setup model of a heat exchanger with TEGs installed on the outer surface was examined numerically under steady state conditions for natural and forced convection modes. The results obtained show that 1.03 W of electricity could be produced when the temperature differences across the TEG and air velocity are 60 °C and 0.5 m/s, respectively. Also, an increase of 17.47% of TEG power was achieved for each 5 °C drop in surrounding space temperature and by 11% for each 5 °C rise in circulated hot water temperature. The concept of employing thermoelectric generators (TEGs) to recover energy from waste heat has gained popularity, with applications that range from milliwatt to kilowatt levels of output power. In this study, a hybrid photovoltaic panel and thermoelectric generator (HPVTEG) system consisting of an integrated heat exchanger, a commercial polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) panel and a commercial bismuth telluride TEG was proposed. Here, TE components can be used to cool PV modules, increasing their output power via the Seebeck effect. The main finding is that the hybrid system has a reduced average temperature of 16.01°C. The average power of the stand-alone PV panel is 28.06 W, but that of the HPVTEG system is 32.76 W, which is an increase of 4.7 W. The conversion efficiency and power of the hybrid system increased by 16.7% and 16.4%, respectively, compared with a stand-alone PV panel. — Exhaust heat recovery system converts the thermal losses in the exhaust zone in engines into energy for work. This technology also reduces exhaust emission from engines. This review paper extends the classification of various methodologies on EHR in diesel engine. In spite of their indigenous benefit for various technologies, it has some limitation over applications to different context. From the current researches the variation in usage of exhaust heat from the diesel engine is evaluated and compared to find which methodology is suitable to attain high efficiency in thermal recovery for power generation. Finally a novel method of an EHR system is proposed to increase high percentage of heat recovery from the exhaust gas in diesel engines. Keywords— Exhaust heat recovery system, diesel engine.

PV systems in practice experience excessive thermal energy dissipation that is inseparable from the photo-electric conversion process. The temperature of PV cells under continuous illumination can approach 40°C above ambient, causing a drop in the electrical performance of about 30%. The significance of elevated temperature on PV cells inspired various thermal management techniques to improve the operating temperature of the cells and hence their conversion efficiency. Hybrid PV/Thermal (PV/T) collectors that can supply both electrical and thermal energy are attractive twofold solution, being able to cool the PV cells and thus improving the electrical power output as well as collecting the thermal energy by-product for practical utilization.
